“What means “lens”?” Margaret Laurence
LENS 25.1, is our first in a series of three smashing 25th Anniversary issues that have been thematically constructed around the magazine's byline: LENS SITE SCENE. LENS 25.1 will bring into focus a wide range of lens-based and digital artists who explore "lens" as an eye; mechanical appendage; recording device; or as a means of critiquing, staging or mapping environmental or socio-photographic spaces and processes. LENS 25.1 will be one of our most ambitious issues to-date beginning with a commissioned feature article, on LENS, written by Robert Bean; artist pages by British artist Steven Pippin; a fold-out artist project by Jin-me Yoon; an interview with Donald Lawrence and MN Hutchinson (conducted by John Will), which includes two 35 ft fold-outs showcasing their photographic works; and two feature articles one on Regina artist Lee Henderson (written by David Garneau) and other on the work of Cheryl Sourkes (written by Cyril Reade). You won’t want to miss this issue!
