FINE ARTS LAB TECHNICIAN – Competition Number 10-74R
The Fine Arts Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking applications for a full-time Fine Arts Lab Technician, specifically in the three-dimensional studies area. The position will involve working on both the Surrey and Cloverdale campuses.
The successful applicant will possess the following:
- A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts or equivalent.
- An intimate knowledge of processes used in Sculpture and Ceramic programs.
- A thorough knowledge of the usage and maintenance of tools and equipment in 3D workshops (metal, wood, plaster, and ceramics).
- A thorough knowledge of the safety practices and procedures relating to the tools and equipment used in 3D workshops (metal, wood, plaster, and ceramics).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with students from various backgrounds, with a wide range of technical skills.
- Organizational and administrative skills including maintenance of budgets and recordkeeping.
- Experience with various computer software systems such as Word, Excel, and Photoshop.
Experience in 2D design processes, such as print media, photography, and painting, would be an asset.
