The Department of Fine Arts at Mount Allison University invites applications for a 12 month term position in Painting, Drawing and Advanced Seminar course. The Fine Arts Department offers a BFA degree and BA degree with a major and minor in studio arts and art history. Teaching responsibilities will include painting and drawing at all levels, the advanced seminar course, and supervision of fourth-year students in Advanced Studio courses. 

The successful applicant should have: completed a Master of Fine Arts degree; experience teaching painting and drawing at the undergraduate level; a strong commitment to studio practice; and an active exhibition record.  An informed awareness of contemporary critical discourse in fine arts, and the ability to incorporate critical theory into studio courses at all levels are assets. The ability to teach a wide range of traditional and non-traditional methods in painting is essential. The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor, and will begin on 1 July 2010, subject to budgetary approval.

Applications should include: a letter of application; a curriculum vitae; documentation of creative work (CD or DVD); a teaching dossier (which will include a statement of teaching philosophy, examples of course outlines, and examples of student work); and three letters of reference forwarded by the referees (electronically submitted references are acceptable). Mount Allison is a highly respected small (2350 students) undergraduate institution which aims at excellence in undergraduate education.
