Located at Paloranta Art and Furnishing, 833 Queen St. W., Toronto
Samantha Miodovnik's first ever solo show comprised of work based on her memory series.
This body of work is a study of the human unconscious. Specifically her own memory and trying to determine what parts are accessible.
The first layer in each painting is a childhood memory that she has discovered in a photo album. They are all from images that she thinks she remembers, but is not certain. She only thinks that she remembers these moments in her life because of the photos that have documented them.
On the most external surface, she has covered the canvas in paint only revealing bits and pieces of the painting underneath.
In this show there will be paintings as well as sculpture and photography. The artist will be present during the opening reception.
