THINKBOX:ARCHIVE
January 12 - February 11, 2007
Reception: Friday, February 09, 2007 @
7pm, Performance: 7:30pm
The Thames Art Gallery has organized
an incredible multi media exhibit with a rare performance by
Thinkbox members. A reception open to the general public will be
held at the Thames Art Gallery on Friday, February 09, 2007 @ 7pm,
with a live performance immediately following.
Thinkbox is a collective of artists
working in a variety of new media, united by their aim of exploring
and extending the ways in which sound is heard and incorporated into
multimedia art. Core members of the Windsor-Detroit collective
include Christopher Bissonnette, Mark Laliberte,
Chris McNamara, Steve Roy, Rob Theakston, and
Bill Van Loo.
Since the late 1990s, Thinkbox and
its members have produced a substantial number of recordings,
installations, multimedia works, and performances that have been
presented across North America and in Europe. Thinkbox:Archive
is a major show at the Thames Art Gallery that includes very recent
works by the six-member core as well as a range of archival
material.
Live performances by Thinkbox
members are a special treat. They don't happen often, but they have
occurred in unusual places, and those who have seen them mixing sound
and video live will jump at the chance to see them live
again.
This exhibition is open to the public,
daily from 1pm - 5pm. Admission is free, but donations are
accepted. For more information, please contact the Thames Art Gallery
