Jason McLean, Nothings Going to Change Me World 2008. Acrylic Ink and collage.

Since 2005, the gallery has included Jason McLean’s work in two group exhibitions. Jessica Bradley Art + Projects is now pleased to present McLean’s first solo exhibition in Toronto.

Jason McLean's diverse practice encompasses drawing, sculpture, installation and sound, as well as various collaborative projects and performances. He is also well known in the international zine and underground comic book community and has participated in Paul Butler's renowned Collage Party. McLean developed his practice in Vancouver where he studied at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design. He has lived and worked in Toronto since 2008.

Jason McLean's work often takes the fascinating form of visual reportage that registers sights, sounds, personal histories, vernacular expressions and pop music lyrics. Best known for his drawings, McLean uses a diverse and unique variety of materials including found objects that he covers with meandering narratives and engaging imagery. For this exhibition McLean is collaborating with designer Omer Arbel of Bocci (Vancouver) on custom light fixture pieces and will also show a never-seen-before major collage work along with new drawings and some of his signature sports equipment pieces.

McLean’s work has been seen across Canada as well as in Europe and the United States. Recent group exhibitions include PULP Fiction (Museum London and traveling) and Arena: The Art of Hockey (Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and traveling). McLean has completed a billboard piece for the Vancouver Cultural Olympiad, currently on view in Vancouver until the end of April.

Upcoming:

April/May: New York-based German artist Barbara Probst returns for her third exhibition at the gallery from April 24 through May 29, a CONTACT feature exhibition.

June: We welcome British artist Sara Mackillop for her second exhibition at the gallery, opening June 5
