Explore new directions in your work with international faculty and artists. Be inspired by our studio spaces and facilities in an unrivalled natural environment.

PROGRAMS

Banff Artist in Residence Late Spring
June 3 – July 5, 2019
Application deadline: February 6

This program is designed for visual artists to focus on their own practice in a supportive learning environment. Participants are encouraged to explore new ideas, create, self-direct their research and time, and cultivate new directions in their work — all while surrounded by a community of peers within Banff Centre’s spectacular mountain setting.

Behaviour Swarm: Exploring Performative Practices
June 3 – July 5, 2019
Application deadline: February 6

Imagine this residency as a hive of inventors, continuously searching for ways to make each other laugh and permuting every facet of reality. Performance artists, dancers, escapees from the theatre, experimental comedians, abstract clowns, and visual artists who have way too much energy for their own good — we invite you to this hive to exaggerate life to its fullest!

Banff Artist in Residence Summer
July 22 – August 23, 2019
Application deadline: March 6

This Indigenous Arts program is an experiment in conjuring and medium-ship, combined with art and collaboration with the living and with spirit. Participants will create works based on their personal relationship with the concept of spirit. Artists who are interested in exploring a new, multidisciplinary avenue into art and spirit are encouraged to apply.
