Christoph Terhechte introduces and contextualizes Philip Scheffner’s “slow cinema” film Havarie, currently installed at the Goethe Media Space. Terhechte hosted the film’s world premiere in Berlin in 2016 and has presented many of Scheffner’s previous films, including “Revision,” “Day of the Sparrow,” and “The Halfmoon Files.”

Christoph Terhechte is a guest of the Goethe-Institut Toronto and a member of this year’s Hot Docs jury.

Born in 1961 in Münster, Germany, Christoph Terhechte studied political science and journalism in Hamburg and has since worked as a film journalist in Germany and France. He wrote, among others, for the national newspaper “taz”. He has been a member of the selection committee of the Forum since 1997 and, in 2001, was appointed head of the Berlinale section. In 2017, he received the Korean Cinema Award for his support of the Korean Cinema on an international scale.

HAVARIE (Germany 2016, 93 min) is on view at the Goethe Media Space @ Goethe-Institut Toronto until May 31, 2018.
