Four-Month Term Positions, Fine Arts
Studio: Printmaking and Two-Dimensional Art Practices and
Studio: Textile and Fibre Art, and Extended Media

Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland, has a population of more than 1,300 students and emphasizes innovative approaches to teaching and learning, research and engagement. Experiential learning, impactful research and strong community relationships are the hallmarks of Grenfell’s profile.

The Visual Arts Program in the School of Fine Arts at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland has restructured its studio curriculum to reflect contemporary art practices that explore the territory beyond conventional boundaries of discipline based focus/practices.

The School of Fine Arts invites applications for the following positions, effective January 1, 2018.


Four-Month Term Position Fine Arts
Studio: Printmaking and Two-Dimensional Art Practices:
The successful candidate will teach extended practice in printmaking and two-dimensional art practices within a BFA (Visual Arts) Degree Program.

The candidate will have an M.F.A. degree or equivalent combination of professional experience, training and education; a demonstrated record of research; undergraduate teaching experience (preferably in related areas); and a familiarity with contemporary approaches to printmaking and two-dimensional art practices. The candidate will be conversant with the history and processes of lithography, etching, relief, and screenprint, the theoretical underpinnings of printmaking, and contemporary practices. They will have the ability to apply interdisciplinary approaches to instruction, and the commitment to ensure safe studio practices for students.

Lived experience in Indigenous or non-Western cultural traditions would be considered an asset for any candidate.

The successful candidate will teach a Textile and Fibre Art course, and an Extended Media course within a BFA (Visual Arts) Degree Program.

The candidate will have an M.F.A. degree or equivalent combination of professional experience, training and education; an exhibition record; undergraduate teaching experience (preferably in related areas); and a familiarity with contemporary approaches. They will have a demonstrated record of research/creative activities. The candidate will also be conversant with the history of fibre arts, its theoretical underpinnings, and contemporary practices. They will have the ability to apply interdisciplinary approaches to instruction, and the commitment to ensure safe studio practices for students.
