ALDERVILLE FIRST NATION COMMEMORATIVE PUBLIC ART PROJECT

Call to Artists – Request for Expressions of Interest (RFI)

Deadline: 3:00:00 p.m., Wednesday November 1st, 2017

The Corporation of the City of Kingston, Cultural Services Department invites expressions of interest from artists or artist teams interested in working with the Alderville First Nation and the City of Kingston to develop an artwork in Lake Ontario Park. The artwork will commemorate the history and ongoing connection of the Mississauga people of Alderville First Nation with the land now known as the City of Kingston.

Artists who work in a diverse range of mediums as well as contemporary and customary (traditional) disciplines are welcome to apply. We welcome artists and/or team members with Anishinaabeg ancestry and all First Peoples. This public art call is held in accordance with the City of Kingston Public Art Policy.

An artwork proposal is not requested at this time. Through this RFI process, the City of Kingston will identify up to five artists or artist led teams who will be invited to interview with the City and members of the Alderville First Nation, and receive a Request for Proposal and a stipend of $2000.00 to produce a design concept, as well as travel to the City of Kingston for an interview with first nation and city representatives.

Please contact Taylor Norris, Public Art Coordinator for the City of Kingston for a copy of the RFI. Submissions to the RFI are due November 1st at 3:00:00 pm. Any inquiries or clarification regarding this Request for Information shall be directed, by email, by 3:00:00 p.m., October 1st, 2017 to:
