​WINTER COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

130 PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT with Tina Oehmsen-Clark

Designed for individuals seeking entry into post-secondary art programs such as fine arts, animation, graphic design, industrial design, fashion design, interior design and other art programs offered across the country that require a portfolio for entrance. The program​ ​focuses on building a portfolio of their visual artwork by providing studio-based projects, exploration, and concept development in drawing, life drawing, painting, sculpture, and portfolio preparation.



302 PROFESSIONAL STUDIO: The Practical Guide for Artists with​ ​Angela Leach

This 6-week course guides emerging artists through the development of the skills necessary to enter the art community beyond the school environment. Topics covered will include: putting an art practise plan into action, writing an Artist Statement and CV, documentation and archival skills, finding venues and developing a target audience, display, selling and shipping art, accessing services for artists including grants, exhibition venues, and more!



NEW! 562 NARRATIVE STILL LIFE with Special Guest Instructor, Kyla Brown

How can one tell a story through objects? This drawing/painting course will explore formal representational techniques with various media. Using the still life as a format, students will explore the creation of narrative with objects and their visual placement and representational potential. The class will be exposed to how still life has been used throughout the history of art and can be developed conceptually.


​COURSES FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

923 YOUTH ART STUDIO (Ages 11-13) with Tina Oehmsen-Clark

Through drawing, painting, printing, collage, and 3-dimensional work, students will be introduced to various techniques and media in order to develop their own artistic language and expression. The students will be introduced to artists throughout history including contemporary artists in connection with their projects, and will also go on field trips to museums and/or galleries to see and discuss the artwork on site.



910 FUNDAMENTALS OF DRAWING (Ages 14-17) with Tina Oehmsen-Clark

An introduction to the fundamentals of drawing, including contour, gesture, value, perspective, foreshortening, surface treatment, and composition. Emphasis will be placed on learning to see and experience the world from the artist's viewpoint. Classes will be structured combinations of shorter exercises and longer, more developed drawings. A variety of wet and dry drawing media will be used.
