Rob Croxford "Town & Country" July 17- Aug 5th, reception Thurs July 19, 7-9pm

Exploring the relationship between the city and country Rob juxtaposes retro-styled imagery with urban and rural landscapes. Humour and word play is used to address environmental and sociopolitical issues in a highly accessible way. Rob refers to this as the "spoon-full of sugar" approach to activism.
Looking into the past to shape the future these retro-styled paintings engage the viewer while providing a platform for political commentary. The work "Town and Country" is a combination of collage-like mixed media with a vintage 'poster art' look. The intention of the artist is to entertain but also to challenge people to re-examine their opinions about our values, traditions and community/world.

Hangman Art Gallery is located in the middle of an exciting neighbourhood of creative and visual arts professionals. It is the home of the Artists' Network.

It supports a thriving fine arts community by providing exhibition spaces to connect art lovers and collectors with Artists' Network members and non-members alike. It is a venue where artists from all stages of their career can meet and showcase their personal perceptions of the realities of contemporary life.

Paul Sanderson Bio:

Paul was called to the Ontario bar in 1983. Since that time he has been in private practice and has advised visual artists, art galleries and arts associations on contract and copyright matters, including large public commission contracts for venues such as the Ontario Science Centre. He has also assisted in the establishment of and provided ongoing legal advice re: copyright collectives in the visual art field.
Mr. Sanderson has lectured at over a dozen post-secondary institutions in Ontario including most of the leading legal and arts campuses. Paul is committed to the practice of law as a profession, not just as a business. He is co-founder of ALAS (Artists' Legal Advice Services), Canada's first summary advice legal service which offers free legal advice for artists of all disciplines and has published many articles on visual art law.
