Programs and Outreach Assistant
Koffler Centre of the Arts
Part-Time (21 hours/week)

The Koffler Centre of the Arts seeks an experienced, creative, and energetic Programs and Outreach Assistant for a part-time position.

The Koffler Centre of the Arts is a Jewish cultural institution with a broad mandate to serve all, and present a wide range of multidisciplinary artistic programs through a global lens in a specifically Canadian context. The Koffler's mission is to bring people together through arts and culture to create a more civil and global society. Our unique mix examines the arts across different disciplines and cultures in a way that strengthens identity while encouraging an appreciation of difference, dialogue, and creativity.

The Programs and Outreach Assistant reports to the Curator of Multidisciplinary Programs and is part of a small team that builds the Koffler's programmatic content and audience. S/he is responsible for assisting in the creation, coordination, and evaluation of the institution's public programs including literary, visual arts, music, dance, theatre, film, ranging from performances, panel discussions, screenings, workshops, festivals, and more. S/he also takes a major role in outreach actions and audience building, working with individuals and other organizations in the arts, education, and the Jewish community to create meaningful connections between the Koffler's programs and their interests, goals, and curricula. This is a part-time position consisting of three days per week with additional evening and weekends hours when running public programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assisting in the creation, coordination, and evaluation of the institution's multidisciplinary public programs, including budget management, logistics, and project timelines,
  • Interfacing with the communications & marketing team to create and implement outreach actions and ensure strong and diverse public participation in Koffler's programs,
  • Assisting in recruiting and working with volunteers for signature projects,- Assisting in fostering relationships in the community and nurturing fruitful collaborations,
  • Assisting with administrative tasks, including fee payments and documentation archival.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated track record of passion for the arts and culture and engagement with subject matters related to the Koffler's mission,
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with the development and implementation of cultural programs that are relevant to today's audiences,
  • Must be intellectually curious and excited with the opportunity to draw from many disciplines and innovative approaches,
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and self-starting, a team player who is able to balance several projects simultaneously,
  • Have excellent work load management, prioritization and administration skills,
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), computer (including social media) and people skills,
  • A relevant degree in arts (film, visual arts, performance, literature, etc), arts administration, museum studies, or Jewish arts and culture are preferable,
  • Be available to work additional hours on some evenings and weekends when running public programs,
  • Be open-minded and have good humour!
