DX Exhibition

60 Years of Designing the Ballet

July 11 – September 2

Design Exchange, 234 Bay Street

Exhibition Hall

60 Years of Designing the Ballet offers an enchanting glimpse behind the scenes of the iconic dance institution, The National Ballet of Canada (NBC). Organized thematically – this exhibition highlights the various ways in which ballet is designed through hundreds of items from the ballet's archive - from the tutus worn in classic productions like Swan Lake that span back to the 1950s to a retrospective of costume sketches and cherished set design items like the Nutcracker doll (The Nutcracker). This back stage pass offers viewers a rare opportunity to engage with the theatricality, innovation, glamour and beauty that is the National Ballet of Canada.
