Education Assistant
Koffler Centre of the Arts at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre (Vaughan, ON)
Part-Time (20 hours/week)

Koffler Centre of the Arts is Canada's only multidisciplinary, contemporary Jewish cultural institution, with a broad mandate to serve all and present a wide range of artistic programs through a global lens in a specifically Canadian context. The Koffler's unique mix of programs and exhibitions examine the arts across disciplines and cultures in a way that strengthens identity while encouraging an appreciation of difference, aiming to bring people together to create a more civil and global society.
Koffler Centre of the Arts has been teaching children and adult painting, drawing, ceramics and more for 35 years. Our instructors are artists-in-residence, well respected across the city in their practices. Our students are artists, who enjoy the camaraderie of like-minds and other creative souls.
Starting in the fall of 2012, the Koffler will be offering classes at the new Schwartz/Reisman Centre on Lebovic Campus in Vaughan.
The Education Assistant for the Koffler Centre of the Arts is responsible in aiding in the successful daily operations of the Koffler Studios – the adult, children and family classes in Visual Arts, Music and Dance – that take place on the Lebovic Campus.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Reporting directly to the Curator of Education, the Education Assistant will be responsible for interfacing with prospective and current students to provide a high quality of customer service; interacting with the faculty to ensure classes run smoothly and marketing classes to the community on and around the campus. S/he will counsel students into classes which suit their needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have a degree in art history, museum studies, fine arts (or equivalent) with a background that allows for competence in dealing with content related to the studying and teaching of visual and performing arts. S/he will have experience in the field of customer service and will have strong administrative and communications skills that include coordinating the technical needs for classes and other programs with Operations and Tech services, and managing day to day questions that arise.
Knowledge of Vaughan and its communities, proficiency in other languages (Hebrew, Russian, Chinese), and a drivers license/access to a vehicle are assets.
