OPENING RECEPTION & ARTIST TALK: SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2-4 PM
"To this type belong many lunatics and most of the great men of history"
- Bertrand Russell
Bau-Xi Photo will host acclaimed British photographer Dan Dubowitz for a feature exhibition of his newest series: 'Fordlandia: The Lost City of Henry Ford' documents what is left of the failed industrial town created by Henry Ford in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. The town reveals the hubris of the world's richest man spending a billion dollars during the Great Depression.
The artist will give a public talk to accompany this exhibition of photographs of the recently repopulated town. The talk will focus on the experience of this American new town, and situate Ford's 'work of civilization' and its subsequent abandonment in the wider context of Dubowitz's ongoing project, Megalomania.
