REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS NOTICE
RFP 12-66 Commissioning of an Artist to Develop Public Artwork as a Main Component in the Proposed Children's Memorial Garden
Sealed Proposals, one (1) original and seven (7) additional copies, in a clearly marked envelope are to be delivered to the BID DEPOSIT BOX, Purchasing Division, located at 1 Market Square, Lower Level, Suite 120, Brantford, ON, N3T 6C8, on or before 2:00 p.m. Local Time on Thursday, May 10, 2012.
The City is seeking to commission an artist (or team of artists) to develop public artwork as a main component in the proposed Children's Memorial Garden in St. Andrews Park (230 Brant Avenue, Brantford ON). The selected artist will work with City of Brantford staff, the Children's Memorial Study Group, the Brantford Arts Block, and the community to develop an art concept for this memorial tribute and execute a public art project accordingly for placement within the new garden(s) and existing park. The City is looking for an artist who can bring an innovative community based approach to the design of a public artwork for the site that is suitable as a children's memorial tribute.
Candidates must demonstrate previous experience in designing, building and installing large scale works of art in outdoor environments and/or public open spaces.
An information session will be held on Friday April 27, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Brantford Visitor and Tourism Centre (Tim Horton's Community Room) located at 399 Wayne Gretzky Parkway, Brantford, ON, N3R 8B4), for all interested artists. The session is optional and is being held to answer questions and/or provide clarification to interested artists in a consistent and comprehensive manner. Staff from Purchasing, Parks and Recreation and Tourism, and Arts and Culture will be on hand to address questions relating to this RFP, the City's Public Art Policy and any other details related to the Project.
Request for Proposals documents must be obtained from the Purchasing Division, Finance Department, City of Brantford, 1 Market Square, Lower Level, Suite 120, Brantford, ON between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays. RFP documents are free of charge.
If unable to visit the Purchasing Division office in person to obtain documents, Proponents are to send their request and their complete contact information (including contact name, address, phone, fax and email address) to the Purchasing Division office via email to email@example.com . Any questions regarding the securing of RFP documents may also be forwarded to this email address.
Proponents shall be solely responsible for obtaining the RFP documents and for the delivery of their Proposal submission in the manner and time described in the RFP. Fax or electronic submissions will NOT be accepted.
All requests for information, instructions or clarifications regarding this RFP must be set out in writing and directed to:

All questions related to this RFP or any clarification with respect to this RFP must be made no later than 12:00 noon, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in order that City staff may have sufficient time to respond. The City cannot guarantee a response to questions received after this deadline. The City reserves the right to extend the deadline for questions if required regarding this RFP.
The responsibility shall be with the Proponent to seek clarification of any matter that they consider unclear before submitting a Proposal.
