Ryerson's School of Image Arts is proud to host its 17th annual graduate and end of year festival: Maximum Exposure. This exhibition showcases the works of 150 – 200 emerging photography, new media and film-based artists within Ryerson University.

From April 3rd – April 29th, the Maximum Exposure Festival will present several exhibitions showcased at three venues and their surroundings within the Queen Street West district: The Gladstone Hotel, Gallery 1313, and Gallery 99 @ 99 Sudbury.

Maximum Exposure Presents: The Fourth Year Thesis Show

The Gladstone Hotel: Floor 2

Comprised of work by the fourth year Photography students of Ryerson's School of Image Arts, this exhibition is the central focal point of Maximum Exposure. This showcase highlights the various thesis projects executed by the graduating class on the second floor of The Gladstone Hotel. Featuring over sixty individual artists, this showcase provides an overview of Ryerson's emerging art photographers and their practice.

The Gladstone Hotel: Art Bar

Continuing in the tradition of previous years, the Art Bar at the Gladstone Hotel will host a curated exhibition of works produced by the first and second year photography students. This exhibition permits future graduating photographers of the Image Arts program an initial opportunity to present their work to the Toronto art scene.

An established component of Maximum Exposure, this inclusive two-week long showcase of work produced by the third year Photography students foreshadows their thesis projects of the following year. The work found in this exhibition can be seen as the germinating concepts, ideas and motifs that will shape and direct the careers of these emerging artists and photographers.

For the first time ever, Maximum Exposure will incorporate a dedicated exhibition showcasing the exciting works produced by the third and fourth year students in the Image Arts New Media program. This exhibition will be a curated selection of new media pieces that challenge established modes of production and display in the image arts world. The innovative projects produced by these artists position them at the forefront of avant-garde and contemporary art practice.

Maximum Exposure Presents: MX vs. QW
April 27th – 29th
QR Code Hunt: Friday April 27th

In this event Maximum Exposure goes head to head with Queen West as artists shed the confinement of the gallery space for the open air of the street. This series of outdoor art installations invites the public to engage with Maximum Exposure in new and innovative ways while allowing artists to exhibit to a broader audience in different contemporary modes of display. This path of art works also serves to connect all the venues of the event.
