Call to Artists: 15 Chairs
For 15 years of The Taste of Glenhyrst, the annual major fundraiser of
The Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant

The Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant is calling for proposals from artists to create the most creative artists' chairs

Fifteen chairs will be selected by jurors from the proposals to be commissioned to create their proposed chairs and the artists will be paid $500.00 for the chair, the exhibition right and the right to reproduce images for marketing.

The winning chairs will be displayed in public from May 20, 2012 until June 20, 2012 at selected sites in Brantford, Ontario. On the night of the Taste of Glenhyrst all the chairs will be auctioned to the public and all proceeds will go to the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant. Submission Deadline:                           Received by March 31st, 2012
Notification of Jury Decision:               April 10, 2012
Selected Work to be delivered by:       May 14, 2012
Work will be displayed in public: May 20 until June 20, 2012
Taste of Glenhyrst:    June 21, 2012

The Jury:
REPRESENTATIVE OF RBC, the lead sponsor of Taste of Glenhyrst.
BRENT McINTOSH, M.F.A. has over 30 years of experience as an artist and is represented internationally by J. Cacciola in New York City, Galeri Couture in Stockholm, Nicholas Metivier in Toronto and Galerie de Bellefeuille in Montreal.
ALIKI MIKULICH, is a mixed media artist and arts educator who has exhibited extensively in the Brantford region and who is currently the program manager for the Brantford Arts Block.
MARCIA LEA, M.F.A. is the Executive Director and Curator of the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant.

Submission Requirements:

Submissions must be emailed:	programs@glenhyrstartgallery.ca
Subject should read:	15 Chairs.
Description of Proposed Chair:	May be a written description or a sketch of one chair.
Examples of Past Work:	Email ten examples of artwork. They do not need to be chairs.
Images:	Should be in jpg format compatible with PC and MAC.
Image size should be:	72 dpi, RGB, and 1024 x 768 pixels.
Biographical Information:	C.V. with contact information.
Transportation to the gallery:	Is the responsibility of the artist.

Requirements:

The chair must be functional;
The chair must be able to withstand outdoor exposure;
Any materials may be used if they are safe to the public;
The chair may be handcrafted or purchased and then significantly remodelled by the artist;
