local, national and international contemporary fibre artists.

Weekly Fibre Artist Interviews

We continue to build a comprehensive resource and archive of local, national and international fibre art. Each week a different fibre artist is featured. This endeavor has established a unique free resource, which can be referred to by artists, educators, curators and art lovers in Ontario, Canada and around the world.

Interviews cover emerging, mid-career and established artists from a wide variety of backgrounds. We have the confidence to contextualize local artists within the international art world because we honestly believe that the most exciting fibre work is being made in the GTA right now. We promote the series to our hundreds of subscribers via email, Facebook and Twitter.

Our 50th Interview is Cybèle Young of Toronto.

Interviews Published by Dawne Rudman (Chair and Festival Curator) and Gareth Bate (Festival Curator).

World of Threads Festival

The World of Threads Festival is an international showcase of contemporary fibre art which takes place in Oakville, Ontario (Nov. 2- 18, 2012) and now Toronto (Nov. 9 – 25, 2012). We showcase innovative fibre art in all forms and highlight the strengths of our local talent. The 2009 festival had 14 free exhibitions and 190+ artists from 13 countries and 8 provinces. We are a not-for-profit initiative with charitable status organized by dedicated volunteers. Beginning in 1994 as a single exhibition, the festival continues to grow in size and ambition.
