Opening Reception Saturday, March 3, Artist talk at 1pm
Exhibition dates; March 1st- April 28th, 2012
Curated by Laurie Carmount
Elaine Carr's work is influenced by land and place. This is evident in her current work that views land and water from an internal and external perspective. The landscape is viewed from different simultaneously-existing perspectives, incorporating topographical landscape and aerial landscape with pen and ink, Japanese paper, plaster and wood. In her work she explores the narrative of places where the land and water meet, and examines the dialogue between image and memory both personal and cultural.
Carr is a visual artist and educator. She received an interdisciplinary Master of Art Degree from Holy Names College, Oakland, California, a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Western Ontario. Her work has been exhibited in Canada and the United States.
