Pikto Gallery is pleased to host Anastasia Taylor-Lind as the winner of the 2011 Pikto Top Pick photography contest. She has received $5,000 towards the production of her show, which runs January 5 – February 29, 2012. Anastasia will be in attendance, along with other influential members of the photographic community. RSVP - http://www.facebook.com/events/242399045825829/

Taylor-Lind's "National Womb" explores the effects of the "Birth Encouragement Program" implemented by the Nagorno-Karabakh government in an effort to repopulate the region. Her work raises thoughtful questions about the effectiveness of the program and the future of the state by revealing the lives of women who live in the area. Her work was recently featured in The New York Times: http://www.pikto.com/blog/2011/12/pikto-top-pick-winner-in-nytimes/.

Anastasia Taylor-Lind is a British/Swedish photojournalist currently based in London, working for such clients as The Sunday Times Magazine, Marie Claire and Geo. Her work has been exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery, the Frontline Club and the National Portrait Gallery in London, as well as other venues internationally. Anastasia received a FNAC Grant for Photojournalism in 2010, and she has won a number of awards including the 2009 Canon Young Photographers Award in Italy and The Guardian Weekend Photography Prize. Anastasia is currently represented by the VII Photo Agency.
