Advanced Studio w/ Hasselblad H3D11-31 DSLR: This workshop will explore advanced studio techniques using Hasselblad H3D11-31 DSLR as well as advanced lighting set ups to accommodate the Hasselblad.
Curation 101: This workshop will provide learners with the essential steps necessary to envision and coordinate a curatorial project, covering research tools, roles, and timelines required.
Digital Negatives: Instructor, Paulette Michayluk, will review several methods for converting digital photos into negatives that are ready for printing with any antique process.
Eco-Darkroom: This workshop introduces an ecologically friendly alternative to black and white darkroom processing. This workshop is hands-on. Participants will process their own film and print photographs.
Portfolio Development: April Hickox, Toronto based artist, educator and curator, will discuss how to professionally present your photography for portfolio reviews and for gallery submissions.
Gum Bichromate: This workshop is a great introduction to combining antique processes with 21st Century technology. Gum BiChromate can be done at home with low lighting conditions and basic equipment.
Portraiture & Intimacy: Meera Margaret Singh will describe the process of making conceptual work from the original idea to its conception. Participants are encouraged to bring their work for discussion.
The Nude, The Body, The Figure: This workshop will explore formal and conceptual strategies employed by photographers in the depiction of the human form. Participants will photograph a nude model.
Cyanotype: Cyanotype is a non-silver process that can be combined or used independently to create distinctive Blue toned imagery on natural materials such as silk or art papers.
Grant Writing: A detailed look at the granting process, with a special focus on writing an artist statement, this workshop will examine what is expected for individual artist grant applications.
Pinhole: The ultimate in camera hacking, pinhole photography allows you to make cameras out of just about anything and frees you from the limitations (and costs) inherent in using a manufactured camera.
Self Promotion for the Artist/ Curator: This workshop is geared towards artists and curators in all stages of their careers that want to learn professional and creative ways to promote exhibitions and events.
Studio Lighting: In Gallery 44’s production studio, Toni Hafkensheid will lead participants on an adventure in lighting, using tungsten, strobe and other lighting sources.
