ADVANCED FINAL CUT PRO 6*
Upgrade your knowledge of Final Cut Pro 6®! Be introduced to advanced concepts of System Setup; Workflow; SD & HD Formats; Online-Offline Solutions; Fine-Cutting Tools; Finishing and Output. Practical methods of Media Management, P2 Workflow and Archiving Media will also be covered. Prior FCP experience is required.
After Effects is an industry-standard application used to create motion graphics, special effects, title sequences and animation. Basic MAC OS knowledge is recommended.
Directing is endlessly challenging. You must be able to work under stress and time limitations. Learn some time honored techniques that can make Directing go smoother. Develop your abilities to communicate what you want to see on camera to your crew, performers and ultimately to an audience.

Creative DVD authoring made easy! From simple to complex, learn how to create a customized & professional presentation of your video project. Use DVD Studio Pro 4 to create slideshows, subtitles and interactive menus.
Straight Cut or Dissolve? From classical to avant-garde, the art of film & video editing has evolved into one of the most complex, yet universal languages. Examine the history, philosophy and techniques behind the psychology of editing.
FINAL CUT PRO 6: INTRO*
Learn to edit video with Final Cut Pro 6®! Be introduced to the FCP interface and the creative possibilities of the most recent version of this non-linear video-editing software. Basic MAC OS knowledge is recommended.
Flash is an extremely powerful graphics program that allows you to create dynamic, interactive animated content for everything from basic linear animations to entire web sites. Basic MAC OS knowledge is recommended.
Money helps get your video done. Find out what it takes to write a grant. What do you need to do to make your grant stand out from the pile and get the money you need? If you have a grant idea you’re working on bring it a long for a professional critique.
INTRO TO DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERAS
One-day workshop looks at digital video camera techniques and technologies. Be introduced to the differences between analog and digital imaging; the types, features and functions of a digital video camera; different types of shooting styles. Participants encouraged to bring in their own camera.
LIGHTING & SOUND
Learn basic lighting and audio concepts, with tips and tricks for creative and inexpensive video production. Explore the types, uses, challenges and creative opportunities encountered when adding lights to a video shoot.
Location, Location, Location
or Trains, Planes and Automobiles....and Bicycles: a seminar on the ins and outs of shooting video and stills on location. Whether you are intending to shoot on the street, in the studio, on a sailboat, from the window of a roaring train.... you have to get in and out of each scenario safely from start to finish. Learn some of the tricks of the trade... …some ways that make the art of storytelling a little easier…Here are ways to help tell your story...safely.
PANASONIC AG-HVX200 CAMCORDER
Panasonic AG-HVX200 is a fixed-lens high-definition video camera that can record HD on solid-state P2 cards or DV on MiniDV tapes. Learn the physical and digital camera controls, special features, the P2 tapeless workflow, from production to post using FCP. Basic video or film camera knowledge is required.
Photoshop® is the essential software for manipulating your images. Photoshop CS4 offers productivity and workflow enhancements, powerful new editing tools, and breakthrough compositing capabilities. Practice working with the interface, toolbox, palettes and menus, layers, masks and compositing techniques.
Learn how to make a video in a two-day practical workshop. The first day focuses on production. The second day is spent in the editing suite with hands-on instruction on the nonlinear editing program FCP 6.
From production to postproduction, compositing has helped define the medium of video. Be introduced to the scope of working with video compositing from start to finish. Participants will shoot & light a small green-screen setup using DV, then composite the video using the postproduction software FCP 6 and After Effects CS4.
* All participants enrolled in these workshops are entitled to 4 free hours practice time in TSV’s editing suites which must be used within 6 months of taking the course.
