Job Posting: Education and Public Programming Lead

Mayworks Festival of Working People and the Arts is looking for an Education and Public Programming Lead. As the longest-running labour arts festival in Canada, Mayworks forges new links between artists and workers, encouraging art to inspire labour and labour to incite art.

Reporting to the Executive Director and Curator, the Education and Public Programming Lead is responsible for the implementation and execution of events for the annual Mayworks Festival of Working People and the Arts. The Education and Public Programming Lead is also responsible for maintaining collaborative and cooperative relationships with artists and organizations. This is a Toronto-based unionized position.

The Education and Public Programming Lead’s duties are to:

  • Support for the Executive Director and Curator’s plan to implement and carry out the annual Mayworks festival.
  • Creation and implementation of strategies for public engagement for projects and events presented at the Mayworks Festival of Labour and the Arts
  • Design and facilitation of processes of learning and exchange between artists, and labour movement and community organizations to compliment curated programming
  • Support partnership development across community settings by facilitating meetings between artists and community groups, and sponsors
  • Interpret and analyze the impact of Mayworks’ events and exhibitions by developing and implementing evaluation tools for the Board of Mayworks to measure impact
  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and funding reports.


Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years professional experience in curriculum, program and evaluation design
  • Experience with group facilitation, conflict resolution, and partnership across community settings
  • Grant writing and organizational development experience is an asset
  • Graduate degree qualifications in fields of Adult Education; Art & Cultural Studies; Community Arts or equivalent in work experience.


Salary:

  • $29.07/hr, plus 10% in lieu of benefits, 9% fringe benefits, 2% retirement savings plan, and 6% vacation pay


Hours of work:

  • 565 hours January to May 2019
  • 830 hours October 2019 to May 2020
