How Does a Fairy Earn His Wingz?
Shawn Postoff

May 23 – June 3, 2018
Gallery 1313, Toronto

Opening Reception: Thursday, May 24 – 7:00 – 10:00pm

Webspinner Shawn Postoff concludes his OPTIMYTHIC trilogy with an all-new assortment of crystalline Pleasure-Bombs and their personalized, flavour-enhancing Poems. Glass, stone, metals, microchips, findings, beads, and bling fuse into sculptural, wall-dwelling creatures that speak of extremely trenchant and important topics for the 21st century. These topics include (but are hardly limited to):

  • Sprawling and irreverent curiosity
  • Illicit desire
  • High selfie-steam
  • Low-fat cream
  • Blatant, non-random suggestions for idiots and wisdom-seekers alike

As usual, each individual Pleaure-Bomb is accompanied by a modest dollop of Poesy that serves to stretch the work’s meaning into wondrous and unexpected Mind-Places. Past and present pieces of this provocative, interrogative, interactive, immersive Mosaic can be found at www.optimythic.com. Alas, there is no reliable map to the Labyrinth, and visitors are advised to watch out for scorpions!

About the Artist

Shawn Postoff is a transmedia artist working with fine art, text, still image, motion-picture, and theatrical clown. His Webspinning practice converges on the Internet, where he combines a host of disparate mediums into an interconnected series of websites. Together, his narratives weave into an exploratory, non-linear examination of his uncommon, interior world.
